We are the anti-choir!

Hastings Punk Choir is built around the idea that we can all sing and the punk ethos of making music DIY style. There’s no need for any formal training or auditions, just bring your passion and your enthusiasm. We are the anti-choir!

We just love singing together. We practise weekly and perform a mixture of a cappella and guitar and drum-accompanied arrangements of songs by punk bands past and present. Included in our current repertoire are numbers by the Buzzcocks, Ramones, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Delta 5, Wire, X-Ray Spex, Blondie, The Clash, Iggy Pop, The Lovely Eggs, Dead Kennedys, The Damned, Sex Pistols, Tom Waits, Kid Kapichi, The Undertones, the list goes on.

Tom Elvy

Musical Maestro

Meet musical director extraordinaire Tom Elvy. Directing the choir is rather like herding cats; fortunately, Tom is a master at cat-herding. He also arranges our songs, accompanies us on guitar, and tells us, in a nice way, when we are off key, at the wrong tempo or just wrong!

Karen Burgess

Fearless Leader

Responsible for the manic mayhem that is Hastings Punk Choir, meet Karen Burgess, our fearless leader. Seeking to spread a little joy and a lot of irreverence through the medium of punk songs, Karen founded the choir in 2021.
